Adieu Sailor
I find myself
Where plunging breaths
deepen out into the mouth and
Wind tunnels in the chasm
between my glassy eyes and their socket.
The You in my body feels so far away,
like it checked into a hotel
at the cliff-edge of my fingertips,
for one night only
before setting sail through the inky far; just like all my other great stories.
Losing you to the world,
ripple by ripple pulls you out until you are gone.
Not made for land; but for the sky.
And until you take flight,
the ocean is the next best thing.
I’ll take pride in coming third.
